choice

choice

We make choices all the time, and often we hope we made the best choice. Robert Frost's poem "The Road Not Taken", shows how a character in the poem had to make a choice on which road he would go down. So far in my life i have many choices, some that were for the better. For example i chose to come to West Side High School,so that i can finish faster. By making choices we're often taking a risk. Most of the time im happy with the choices i make. While reading the "Dead End" by Rudolfo Anaya seem so familiar to me, because i know so many different people who's going through exactly what Maria is. Maria is a very smart girl, who holds a lot on her shoulders. She very focus on school and taking care of her siblings. There is this boy in her school who is very popular, and he seems to like Maria, She likes him but she doesn't want to follow what everybody else is doing. Although she wondered a lot how it felt to not have to worry about so much. She has a choice of either being a part of the popular crowd who smokes and really doesn't plan on doing much with there life or do like she promise her mother and finish school. The fact that Maria made that promise to her mother while her mother was on her death bed, she knows that it would be wrong to not keep that promise. Im happy that she chose not to smoke and to finish school and don't follow what others do. Although she was lonely she didnt want to end up dead or no type of life. She had future, and had plans for herself. The symbol of the story was that she was different from the people in her school.
